Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to have Cancer or be going through treatment to make an appointment at the Touch Therapy Centre?

No, not at all.  The Touch Therapy Centre was set up for everyone in mind not just those who are going through cancer treatment – it’s for everyone who could do with a little less stress in their lives who would like to take time out to re-charge and re-energise.

If I am going through treatment for cancer can I still get a massage?

Yes, you most certainly can but we do like to liaise with your medical team and ask that if you are going through treatment that your medical care team sign a consent form to allow you to have a Touch Therapy Massage to help reduce stress levels and boost the immune system.  Download Medical Link Form>>

Can your receipts be submitted to my healthcare cover provider?

Yes, at the Touch Therapy Centre we do issue receipts which can be submitted to your Healthcare cover provider.  Massage Treatment is specified on the receipt, along with our Massage Therapist of Ireland registration number, Each case is decided by your Healthcare cover provider on an individual basis and depending on the type of cover you have.

The Touch Therapy Centre is approved by the following healthcare cover providers

Are you fully trained?

I am fully trained in both therapeutic massage and oncology massage and fully insured. I understand that when people are not feeling 100% their blood count can be low and as a result their risk of infection high. I am a little obsessive about this and can guarantee you, that after every client, every surface is hygienically cleaned and all towels freshly replaced and all lotions and potions are kept to the highest of hygiene standards.

What massage oils do you use?

I only use the best products on your skin. The BEST. You won’t leave my centre feeling slimy or drenched in oil. You won’t break out from a cheap fragrance or preservative. Some therapists choose their products based on price I choose mine on the basis that what goes on the skin is absorbed by the skin so need to be 100% natural – Defiant Beauty, Lindi Skin and Pure Pro are the products that I use.

What’s the typical Tip rate for a massage?

I hate the awkwardness of tipping. So I don’t take tips. You pay the listed price. That’s it. (If you buy a package of 6 massages, the price goes down a bit.)

If you do feel like ‘rounding up’ or ‘keep the change’ then your generous donation is given to those who can not afford to pay for a treatment– believe me I know how expensive it is to be sick in Ireland. I have a list of people who are ready in the wings if such an appointment comes available. (do contact me if you wish to be added to this list) or otherwise the two charities close to my heart are the Cork Dragons and Cork ARC House any money left over from tipping an donations received will be given to these fantastic charities.

Are your treatments the full hour?

1 hour = 60 minutes. 30mins = 30 mins etc. The clock doesn’t start until I walk in the room and actually begin the massage.

That’s not the case for every business. Some full service spas operate on a 50-minute = hour. But in my centre, 30, 60, 70 and 90 minute treatments last exactly as long as indicated. (Unless you’re late, then I may have to adjust accordingly.) Do pencil in an extra 15-20minutes for your first appointment so that we can tailor your treatment specifically to YOUR needs.

Do I get your full attention?

You get my full attention. For 1 hour, you are the superstar. You are the reason we’re in the room. Need silence? We can do that.

Want me to spend the full hour on your feet? Sure. Warm pillow? Snuggly Blanket? Not a problem.

You get your own full attention. No phone. No demands. Just you. The world does not need anything from you for the next 60 minutes.

Do I have to fill out registration forms each time I make an appointment?

No-  you don’t. The initial consultation does take approx 20 mins (please add this on to the length of treatment time – it does not reduce your 1hr or 30min booked session)  This is so that I can discuss any health issues there may be and tailor make the treatment session particular to YOUR needs.  The benefit of offering such a one to one personal treatment is that you only need to fill out the registration forms the first time you come, after that I keep them on file.
